Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is a 2021 3D sequel to 2018's Peter Rabbit produced by Sony Pictures Animation, based on The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. It is a computer-animated adventure comedy directed and produced by Will Gluck, and stars the voice of James Corden as the title character, alongside Domhnall Gleeson, Rose Byrne, and David Oyelowo in live-action, and the voices of Elizabeth Debicki, Margot Robbie, and Lennie James.
The wedding of Thomas McGregor and Bea McGregor takes place with all their human and animal friends in attendance. After the honeymoon, Thomas helps Bea on her children's storybooks which are based on Peter and his friends. Peter is disappointed to know that the books have depicted him as naughty. A publisher called Nigel Basil-Jones communicates his interest to publish Bea’s books. Peter learns that he is portrayed as a villain in Nigel’s upcoming plans for the books. An upset Peter walks away and meets an older rabbit named Barnabas in town. Barnabas recognizes Peter as his friend’s son, but both are caught by animal catchers and taken to a pet pound. Bea decides to sign over the rights to her books to Nigel, but the latter has plans to turn it into a lucrative business, without Bea’s knowledge. Peter and Barnabas are rescued by a little girl named Amelia and kept in a cage. Barnabas and Peter manage to free themselves and get away to town with the food they found in the refrigerator. Thomas and Bea find Peter and bring him home while Barnabas returns to his hideout. The next day, Peter takes his sisters and Benjamin to meet Barnabas, who divulges his plan to rob the farmers’ market and escape with packs of dried fruit. The rabbits succeed in their plan, but are soon captured by the pet pound people. In the meanwhile, Bea realizes Nigel's intentions and withdraws her stories from his company. She agrees to help him and Peter get back all of their friends. Peter, Benjamin, and the sisters then go to Barnabas's hideout where they tie up Barnabas and his crew who are then captured by the pet pound people. The rabbits return all the dried fruit to their owners. Thomas and Bea drive the rabbits home, with Peter deciding to be more agreeable to listen to the ones that love him.
