Spies in Disguise
‘Spies in Disguise’ is an animated comedy film from the house of 20th Century Fox. The film is based partially on the 2009 animated short film ‘Pigeon: Impossible’ by Lucas Martel. The film is directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno for a script written by Brad Copeland and Lloyd Taylor. The film features the voices of Will Smith, Tom Holland, Rashida Jones, Rachel Brosnahan, Karen Gillian and DJ Khaled. The film follows the story of a secret agent who gets trapped as a pigeon by a smart scientist. The two unlikely duos are forced to work together to stop a terrorist and return the agent to his human form.
Lance Sterling is an arrogant secret agent working for H.T.U.V. (Honor, Trust, Unity and Valor) who is sent to retrieve an attack drone from an arms dealer from Japan. As soon as the buyer, a terrorist called Killian arrives, Sterling breaks into the meeting and escapes with the drone. He returns to the headquarters and confronts brilliant scientist Walter Beckett for equipping him with non-lethal weapons. Sterling fires him for what he sees as a defiance. Footage shows Sterling stealing the drone, indicating that he has been framed. Sterling seeks the help of Beckett while Killian breaks into the weapons facility. While at Beckett’s home, he accidentally ingests a potion that turns him into a pigeon. Before Beckett can turn him back, forces from the H.T.U.V. enter Beckett’s home under the impression that Beckett is working with Sterling. The two escape to Italy on learning that Killian is in Venice. Beckett is confronted by H.T.U.V. agents who are unaware of Sterling’s condition but the two escape. They encounter Killian who attempts to kill Beckett. But Sterling saves his life with help from other pigeons in the area. While in a submarine, Beckett tells Sterling that he planted a tracking device on Killian. Beckett successfully creates an antidote that turns Sterling human again. He convinces Beckett to leave and goes to confront Killian alone. Killian overpowers and captures Sterling. Killia reveals that he plans on using the hundreds of drones he has created to kill everyone in agency as revenge for thwarting a past mission. Sterling is freed by Beckett. The two confront Killian and they overpower him and defeat him. The agency decides to make use of Beckett’s gentler methods to handle missions in future.
The movie received a lot of critical acclaim and popularity due to the presence of ‘Spiderman’ actor Tom Holland whose acting skills and humorous moments with Wil Smith were praised by viewers and critics alike.
