The A2 card is ideal for posters, stickers, or calendars. The format has visible and easy-to-handle features. The card is less complex, unlike A0 and A1, and has enormous printing space for your data.

In addition, you can view customer events and promotional offers from a distance. Here are seven secrets of using A2 cards for your business or greetings.

1.  Understand it Functionality

The A2 card format is vital in making good use of it. It is a medium-sized card for effortless and clear communication. Its information is big enough and noticeable even in tiny letters.

  • A2 card is excellent for indoor media information, like advertising cards or sidewalk posters.
  • A2 card is ideal for indoor information that is viewable through an opening, like a decorative poster.
  • A2 is an excellent card to avoid imposing but delivers visible information, especially in advertising.
  • A2 card is ideal for architectural or construction plans.
  • A2 card is perfect for designing essential elements in different colors, like a wall calendar, and is long-lasting.

2.  Explore Common uses of A2 card

The A2 card has many uses because of its qualities. You can use the A2 card for,

  • Creative arts
  • Marketing
  • Retail
  • Architecture and construction

In addition, businesses and freelancers use A2 size cards when designing:

  • Promotional posters
  • Calendars
  • Brochures
  • Technical blueprints and diagrams
  • Business documents

There are various uses because the A2 card has perfect measurement, making it easy to display eye-catching information with less expense and broad proportions.

3.  Understand The Dimensions of the A2 card

A2 cards come in 420 x 594 mm or 42 x 59.4 cm. However, you can expect a size of 16.5 x 23.4 inches. This dimension makes the card the perfect choice for many printing formats.

In summary, the A2 surface area is:

  • 0.25 m²
  • 2,500 cm²
  • 2.69 ft²
  • 387.5 in²

The card calculation makes it possible to remain in equal proportion when folded or cut in half. The calculating formula is height = width x √2. For example, A2 paper is the equivalent of:

one-quarter of an A0 sheet

  • half of an A1 sheet
  • two A3 sheets
  • four A4 sheets

The formula was established in 1786 by Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, a German scientist and philosopher. However, the calculation became famous in 1922 by Dr. Walter Porstmann. Later in the 20th century, ISO 216 took over because of the new measurement.

4.  Choose the Correct Format

The first step is to choose the right paper weight for your card.

The best option for A2 framed cards is 135 or 170 g/m2 paperweight. The size is thin and economical.

If you plan on having the A2 card, use a 240 g/m2 paperweight.

But if you want a qualitative and resistance feature, use 300 g/m2 paper. The format is top-of-the-range paper for cards.

Lastly, you can add more beauty to the card with finishing touches, like lamination. The lamination protects the card from humidity, rigidity, and relief.

5.  Printing Your A2 card

You’ll need a large printer or a plotter to get the best dynamic card or a large card filled with bold graphics. The machines use larger paper sizes, like A2, A1, and A0. The result is large-scale and high-resolution cards. If you don’t have a large printer, you can contact a professional.

Also, you can print this card using a standard desktop or office printer, but the card will be in small sizes, called tiling. Some people use professional designing software like Adobe InDesign to craft and align the decorations on the A2 card.

6.  Top tips for printing A2 card

Resolution is a vital aspect of printing A2 cards. Ensure setting your resolution to high quality.

Bleeding is the next step. Ensure the bleed is a 3 mm margin to avoid white borders after printing the card.

There are many printing tools with high-quality PDFs, like Adobe Acrobat, to optimize card information or details.

Knowing the card size, sign, or print is difficult if you are unfamiliar with printing cards. So, hiring a professional is best because the A2 card is more often difficult to use than you think. Professionals and creative hobbyists use the card because of its clarity, accessibility, and size.

7.   Use it to Make an A2 card box

Step 1

Make score lines of 7 3/4 x 9 pieces of cardstock at 1 1/2 on each side and cut the score lines on the long side connecting to the short side.

Step 2

Prefold the score lines and hold the four corners with tape to form glue tabs. Remove the tape and fold the glue tabs to create a fitting bottom.

Step 3

Stamp the 6 7/8 x 8 1/8 piece of cardstock, draw score lines on each side, and cut the lines of the long side connecting to the short side.

Step 4

Use a scallop edge punch to punch each side but avoid the glue tabs. Cut the glue tabs to remove the extra edges revealed after the scallops. Use tape to hold the corners together.

Step 5

Prefold the lines and peel off the paper liner of the tape. Fold the glue tabs to finish the lip of the cardboard. You can add additional colors and depth by sponging the edges.

Step 6

Tie a ribbon around the card or decorate it as desired.
