7 Things Kids Must Know Before Upgrading to Windows 11!

Windows 11 has become so popular that many users including kids are thinking about updating their PCs to this new version from Windows 10. A lot has changed with Microsoft’s latest operating system. Whether you’re ready to make the move or not, there are a few things you need to know before you make your system upgrade!

1. Backup Your Important Data

If you have a PC running Windows 10, you should probably have an up-to-date backup of your personal data. Don’t let the upgrade process be the time to forget, because even if you don’t lose any data, you could potentially find that you can’t access any files on your PC after upgrading to Windows 11.

When you upgrade to a new operating system (Windows 11, in this case), it is important to back up your data. It could be your favourite games, eBooks, cartoon videos, or more, taking a backup of everything is vital. Doing so prevents losing important files and documents, especially if you decide to go back to your previous version of Windows. You can also use the backup feature to make sure all your files are safe and intact before the upgrade.

2. Ensure Windows 11 is Compatible with your PC

You should ensure that your computer is compatible with Windows 11 by using the System Requirements Checker, a program that helps you determine what your computer can do before purchasing it. If you’re not sure if your PC is compatible with Windows 11, you can check here (refer to the Check for Compatibility section).

3. Use a Reliable, Safe, and Fast Browser!

Irrespective of the task you’re carrying out on your existing Windows 10 PC or going to perform tasks after upgrading to Windows 11, using the best browser is need of an hour. You can download Safari for Windows 11 to ensure that your data is safe and secure!

Moreover, the Safari browser is much faster as compared to Chrome and Firefox. Of course, Microsoft Edge is the default browser, but Safari is much better as compared to all of its counterparts! So make a choice wisely once your system is upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10.

4. Clean-up Disk Space

While upgrading to Windows 11 from Windows 10 is a smooth and easy process, there is a small task that needs to be done before the new operating system can be installed. The new Windows installation will automatically download all of your saved files and settings from Windows 10.

You have to clean up disk space before you install Windows 11 on your computer. In Windows 10, the disk clean-up utility automatically scans your drives for unneeded files, but if it doesn’t find anything, you may still want to run a disk clean-up before installing Windows 11.

4. Stable Internet Connection is Required!

Whenever you’re trying to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, it’s essential that a stable internet connection is there in place. If not, the installation might not be done smoothly and it might give your PC hiccups in between the upgrade process.

5. Plug in Your Charger Always!

Power is consumed more during the Windows update or upgrade. It’s essential that your PC is always connected to a charger so that the upgrade process isn’t stopped in between. And if it does, you have to fresh install Windows 11 right from scratch as half files might get missed if your PC shuts down mid-way during the upgrade process.

6. Check Compatibility of All Apps!

Whether you’re using a paint app or a music app for entertainment, it’s always better to be safe than sorry as few apps might not be available or supported for the latest Microsoft Operating System, Windows 11. Also, few apps might not be compatible with Windows 11, so beware and take note of such apps to see if they are essential to you. Because if they’re a must use apps for you, it is preferred to not proceed with the upgrade.

7. Keep Your Microsoft Account Details Handy!

If you want to sync everything from data to accounts, your Microsoft account is a must. When you upgrade your PC from Windows 11 to Windows 10, it’s essential to use the same Microsoft account which was earlier – before the upgrade. This lets you sync all your apps, settings, One Drive, and other data that was previously saved on your Windows 10 PC.

Upon installing Windows 11 update, sign in with your same Microsoft account to get all the settings and apps as it is on your new Windows OS!
