Different Types of Tea & Their Benefits

We are living in a world of different teas. There are numerous varieties of tea from oolong to matcha to masala chai. Tea also known as Chai worldwide is famous as a traditional beverage and is consumed any time of the day. It is famous for its calming properties and is also believed to be one of the world’s most famous drinks and is almost grown in every continent.

Tea is usually extracted from leaves, flowers, and roots of specific plants and is mixed in milk or water and served hot or cold based on the benefit and requirement. Tea was believed to be first served in the year 2737 BC in China when a renowned herbalist tried to create a beverage, and in an accident, his servant made this tea. Later on, after colonization, it was spread to many countries and now those countries are also house to various kinds of tea. Without further delay, let’s look at different types of tea:

1.  Green tea

The most popular tea in the world and is famous for acting as a supplement in weight loss regimes. It keeps the mind active and improves metabolism, and has a relatively low caffeine content. It regulates blood sugar levels, helps in exercise recovery, and reduces blood fat levels.

2.  Black tea

Black tea originated in India, and is brewed from Camellia Sinensis leaves. It usually contains more caffeine content than any other tea and is a better replacement for coffee. It has antioxidant properties and lowers bad LDL cholesterol.

3.  Oolong tea

Oolong tea is a separate tea from green and black tea but contains properties of both green tea and black tea based on the brewing methods and process. It is used as a supplement during workouts as it stimulates the fat-burning process and burns calories by up to 3.4%.

4.  White tea

It is also made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant but only in Fujian province. It is fruity in flavor and has very little caffeine. It keeps your skin radiance and helps you look younger. Apart from that it is refreshing and keeps you active.

5.  Chai

Chai is the regular one we drink in our homes, made with warm milk, to relieve stress, be active, and help keep diabetes at its pace.

1.  Chamomile tea

If you are looking out for a tea, that calms you, then Chamomile tea is your best choice. It is also found that Chamomile tea can reduce symptoms of Premenstrual syndrome. It also helps relieve sleep-related problems.

2.  Peppermint tea

It is also known as the most commonly used herbal tea in the world, as it mainly focuses on improving digestion, and gut health. It also has antibacterial and antiviral properties. It is suggestible if you have stomach pain, spasms, and cramps.

3.  Ginger tea

Ginger tea also known as spice tea is best used for fighting diseases and increasing immunity. It can also be used to treat periods of pain and diabetes too.

4.  Hibiscus tea

Hibiscus tea is made from the flower hibiscus and is famous for its taste and pink color. It is effective in treating the flu, the common cold, and muscle strains. It can also be used to balance blood pressure.

5.  Echinacea tea

Echinacea tea is the most recommended tea when your common cold, and works better than hibiscus tea. It is believed that Echinacea tea helps boost your immune system and can fight viruses and infections.

6.  Rooibos tea

Rooibos tea is native to South Africa and is made from Rooibos plant leaves. It is used for medicinal purposes in South Africa and is known to have a positive effect on bone health.

7.  Sage tea

Sage also has calming properties on the brain and is used to increase brain health. It is effective against a few effects of Alzheimer’s disease and increases cognitive function.

8.  Lemon balm tea

Lemon balm tea is rich in antioxidants and improves heart health. Lemon balm tea may even help in skin texture and radiance.

  • Lowers blood pressure

According to the tea council of the USA, 83% of millennials drink tea regularly. And the most preferred tea includes black tea in the first and green tea in the second, and the remaining in the other category. They consume tea for various reasons such as stress relief, fat loss, and sleep stimulants, which make them creative, and confident, and on an overall level make them healthy too.
