Factors Of The Intellectual Development Of A Child

It’s no secret that people have different levels of intellectual development, and this difference is noticeable already in childhood. But what is the reason? What factors determine the intellectual development of a person? In this article, we look at the key of these factors and deal with the impact they have.

Genetic factors

This is the potential received along with hereditary information from parents. It is an important factor, but not a determining one. Even with a good predisposition, a person may not achieve a high level of development if they do not take steps to realize their potential.

Little is known about these factors themselves, their mechanisms, and their overall structure. It can only name several genes that are responsible for developmental defects and various abnormalities.

The child’s personality traits

Much depends on the character and temperament. For example, phlegmatic will be quite difficult to prove themselves at school. They may begin to be considered incapable just because of their temperament. Later on, such children may do less well on academic tasks such as essay writing. But if there are difficulties when writing an essay, they can easily be solved by asking professionals to help to write my paper. They can give a student the advice he needs, or tell him what bugs are worth working on.

You can conditionally divide children into thoughtful and impulsive. The first can delve into the task and work with him for as long as they need, despite the complexity. The latter is aimed at a quick result, and therefore often gives the answer that came to mind first. This makes it difficult to learn.

Also, thoughtful children avoid participation in the life of the team (class) and try not to get into unfamiliar social situations. Impulsive ones easily enter the group and are not afraid to take risks.

Environmental factors

Lack of food intake in the first six months of life can affect a child’s development very much. However, if after six months he begins to eat normally and live in stable conditions, by 4-5 years he will catch up with his peers in development. But such experiences, of course, should be avoided.

Mental stimulation is also extremely important. If the baby is deficient in communication, then by the second year of life, he begins to lag in speech and motor skills.

Therefore, it is important to constantly communicate with the child, allow him to manipulate various objects, and learn different new skills.

Family factors

The more children in the family, the lower their IQ. This was proven in the 1970s in the Netherlands. The number of people studied was more than 300,000 young men with an average age of 19. And first-borns tend to be smarter than their younger siblings.

Also, a child’s level of development depends on the social environment. In France in 1980, a study was conducted comparing the IQ of children from poor families, but raised in a privileged class, and their brothers and sisters raised in a lower social class. The difference was about 20 points in favor of those raised in a privileged society.

School Influence

Obedience is most valued in school. This often acts as a limitation for creative children. Many restrictions, rules, and patterns stifle their natural originality.

Back in the twentieth century, the Italian Maria Montessori proposed a system of education in which each child studies at his or her own pace, that is, individually. This led to positive results. But because freedom and autonomy are not allowed by society, the Maria Montessori method is not used.

Personal qualities of parents

Children with a high level of intellectual and creative development of parents usually have a positive attitude towards life, love their work.

Parents of children with a high level of intellectual development are energetic and dynamic, they prefer cultural pastimes, are distinguished by independence in their opinions, nonconformism, and freedom in decision-making.

If parents themselves have a high level of creative and intellectual abilities, if they give their child the opportunity to develop, support, and respect him, it has a beneficial effect and helps the child to realize his full potential.
