Before you consider climbing Aconcagua, you must be in excellent physical condition and acclimatize to the high altitude gradually. The ascent to the summit requires a good understanding of mountaineering techniques, and extensive experience in winter camping and hiking. Climbing Aconcagua also requires a permit from the Aconcagua Provincial Park authorities, which you can obtain at the park entrance or in advance from the park office.
