The House

“The House” is one of the outstanding stories of the first biannual International Short Story Contest 2018 written by Hana Uchiyama, Shonan International School, Japan.

The House

Prologue

What if there are ghosts, monsters, and witches such kind of darkness in this world and they are looking at you all the time? Will you believe it…?

“Lica! Pass that ball to me!” I yelled as loud as I can.

Lica dribbled the ball towards me. We were playing soccer at the soccer court in St.Alfard Park, in Mhelczia.

My name is Flari Pearl. These are my friend, Amber Siltig, Raymond Alfaran, Lica Mayson, and Violet Rosa. We were just kids playing at the park, but after we got out of the big old house in the forest, we were changed into a Vile humans; people who are not actual people.

Everything happened on a sunny afternoon, when we could hear birds singing and we could see the warm orange sun. We were playing baseball. Suddenly, we heard a wearing sound; “Woooooochoyuuuuuu!”

“What’s that sound?” asked Violet.

“I don’t know. Let’s go and look.” I said in fear.

“It’s dangerous in the forest, Flari. You should not go. We don’t know what’s going to happe---------”

In the next second, we were in front of a big old house.

Chapter 1: The Old House (Flari Pearl)

“Where is here?”

We were playing baseball just about a few seconds ago. But now, we are in front of a big old house. It looked like the 25th century’s Cleria house. We were surrounded by green trees. ...We were lost in the forest…Suddenly, rain started falling hard. Big raindrops fell on my face.

“Uh!” It hurts.

“Let’s go inside the house!”, said Raymond. So we went inside the house.

“BANG!”

“Uh...Oh!”, said Violet

“The door is locked! How are we supposed to go out?”, screamed Amber hysterically.

“...No! WE’RE TRAPPED!” me and Lica said at the same time.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!”, suddenly, we see the entrance hall become dark. We could clearly see red eyes flashing at us.

Now, the adventure starts…

Chapter 2: Amber (Amber Siltig)

What is this big old house?! I was very confused.

Amber Mia Alice Siltig. That’s my name. Daughter of Sir. Raychell Arthur Siltig, and Madam Olivia Sapphire Maria Wilkinson. My parents are some kind of Aziridine 5 big royal families. Don’t think big about it, it’s not related to me so much. Anyway, my mom, Olivia says to learn more of how to be a perfect royal princess since my mom is the royal beauty of the kingdom. But still, I like to play with my friends, Ray, Lica, Violet, and Flari, but of course I love to play but of course, I love my parents too.

I’ve met the royal highnesses, the King and Queen, but I really think this planet is not very good because Sir. Alfred, the king just only cares about himself and he doesn’t even remember his daughter’s name; that’s how much he is not thinking about the citizens. And Madame Aliczia is just only thinking about herself. All about jewelry, perfumes, dresses, money, gold, diamonds and all the things just what she wants to have. She is only thinking to be more beautiful than my mother (but I think my mother is more beautiful than her majesty).

In the king’s and queen’s family, there was the grandparents too. There are two types of royal majesties; a normal human, or a very special “Vile Human” type. Actually Flari is it. It turned out in this case.

Flari Pearl is a very mysterious girl. No one knows her full name. In the rule of this world, you need at least 2 first names, and 1 last name. The information we only know about her is that she is a vile human and she is from the royal family (Which much greater than my family). So, I think Flari’s parents were vile humans too.

Hmmm… I think I’ve met Flari and her mother… I don’t remember. Ah! Now I know! Flari’s mother was the younger sister of the queen. Her name was Princess. Anna Farijohana Scarlett Opal Aquamarine. She was a very beautiful person, like a beautiful flower standing on its own bravely. She was very smart and clever too. But her sister was jealous of her popularity and so she assassinated her! Pulled out all the memories about her sister from all the citizens with her magic. (Don't say about this to anyone! It's a top secret in this kingdom… By the way, we, the 5big royal families are not pulled out our memories about Flari’s mother…. And so that’s how Flari was kicked out of the castle and so now she is here..

Going back to the story.

Chapter 3: A disaster on this planet (Amber Siltig)

In a low pitch whisper, “Welcome to this palace, girls and boys. Royal princesses and prince. We hope you enjoy your journey in this house.”

Then, the dark separated and made a road to the voice; a handsome good-looking man wearing a morning (That’s what a suit is called), with glasses. The Butler.

“Who are you!”

“Well, well… My name is Lufas Leon Orion. I am the butler of this house. Now, tell me your name.”

“Amber Mia Alice Siltig. My dad is Sir. Raychell Arthur Siltig. My mom is Madam Olivia Sapphire Maria Wilkinson”, that’s what I always say when I introduce myself.

“Well, the 5 big royal family and the royal beauty! Nice…” I wouldn’t even think he will say nice to my family… We, 5 big royal families are disliked because of her majesty. Because she pulled out her sister’s memory and one of the royal family was trying to put back the memory, so the booing happened from my people.

“Raymond Charles Esxatore Alfaran. My mom is Rexha Mallanna Azulina Coreason. My dad is Sir.Vegiam Actal Zain Alfaran.”

“Mr. Raymond! The idol prince!”, Yes. Raymond is famous. He is so cool, so the girls all like Raymond; poor Raymond… he is being chased by the girls every day.

“Lica Avicii Ani Clara Mayson. My dad is Sir. Exalamin Celtia Clareson Mayson. My mom was s executed, because of my queen. Her name was, Eliza Black Greani Alice Zephiros.”

“That’s sad. But you know, I’m the one who let my queen execute your mother. Hahahah! Poor daughter!”, said the butler holding his sides with laughter. But we were so angry that we were going to knock him down.

“Violet Rose Margaret Boa Rosa. I can’t tell you my parent’s name. It’s a top secret.”

“Well Ok! But I want to know that girl’s name!”, and he pointed at Flari.

“My name is Flari Pearl.”, said Flari quietly. Then suddenly, Lufas shouted;

“YOUR FULL NAME!”.

“My full name? Do you really wanna know my name? You know what’s going to happen. You're going to die.” said Flari patiently.

“We’re not humans. We’re ghosts. Not alive. Well, I am a human but do you wanna challenge me?”, said Lufas sarcastically.

“Well then, my name is Flari Scarlett…” The house started shaking hard.

“Di Amanda Crystal Eliot Michael Zay Alexandrite Aphrodite Pearl. My mom is Anna Farijohana Scarlett Opal Aquamarine. My dad is Arsene Bartholomew Edward Leo Pearl.” Then, the house ghosts and all the living things just collapsed down.

“LAQE MARSHA!” Flari screamed then everything was just back. The house stopped shaking and the animals, ghosts were howling and squealing.

“How did you do that? I asked Flari.

“You know, when a vile human royal family says their real name, the people who is listening might die or the things around will be scared. To stop that, only the vile humans can use this magic power. So the answer is... only I can use this.” said Flari proudly.

“Don’t forget that you've helped us too”, said the Butler.

“We’ll guide you guys through this house to our master”, said the ghost in a creepy voice.

‘Master’? I thought it was a bit funny but I didn't care at the time. That was the start of when we were being trapped by the ‘Master’.

Chapter 4: A place where the death comes (Amber Siltig)

We went to the main hall, where it’s like a living room. There were big shining chandeliers hanging down. Big beautiful mirrors everywhere; we didn't even think those mirrors could be deadly weapons. There were big sofas, and it looked nice. … But wait, something looked weird.

“Wait - what? What is this? Why are there bats and lions and cats here?”, panicked Lica, very confusedly.

“There’s zombies! EEEEEEEK! What is this? A SKULL! What’s this too? It’s red and sticky… Blood! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

“Hello, young lady”, said the skull in a dandy voice.

Lica was too surprised and fainted.

“Lica, are you Ok? Don’t die, don’t die please God! Oh please Lica, don’t die!” Raymond panicked and cried. “That’s because Raymond loves Lica, but his real fiancé is me! Amber Siltig!”

“Let me ask you Lufas, what is this place? Why are there things that’s impossible appearing here?”, asked Flari.

“Because this is a place that dea..., um..., I mean the souls comes and live their after life.”, said Lufas.

“SOULS? Do you means those kindly ones are...”, we all refused. Except Violet and Flari.

“We say the place where death and life, the dark and light comes together, it’s a place where the dark master, his lord comes to stay. When there’s a point born to bring the bridge to the dark and the light, there are two babies born. One is named, Light and the other is named Moon.”

“It means, me, Flari Pearl is the Light and someone, probably the ‘Master’ is the Moon.”

“This myth, legend is taught on the St. Flearichesco’s Bible”, said Violet and Flari. Then I noticed, Violet’s grandparents were the St. Arunv and St. Avicie, of course she is very knowledgeable in myths and saints. So, whatever, now we know this house is the bridge of the death and life. So we have to break down this house and find who is the Moon.

Foomph!- I felt a little wind pass by me in the back. Is the window open? Yes it was. Wait… “LICA!!”, I turned back. But, Was Lica there? No. Lica was not there. Lica had disappeared.

I looked back at Flari. Her face was blue with fear and she was holding a fist with anger.
