Report On Break-In at Stationery Store
On Monday, the 11th of December 2022, the Learners' Stationery Store at City Central in Hamuan district was broken into. The break-in occurred at night approximately at 11.00 pm, according to CCTV images.
There was severe property damage. The CCTV images show that the robbers - two men - entered the store through the metal shutters which they seem to have been pried open with a crow-bar. The store was ransacked and many items such as office supplies and school art supplies were thrown all about on the floor. Several display racks and bookshelves were broken. The store's main display glass rack was also shattered. The two cash registers were forced open as well, and both were damaged by the act. They tried to open the store's safe several times, but failed. So despite the serious property damage, the store did not lose any cash.
Two eyewitnesses reported the presence of two men lurking around in the vicinity about an hour before the break-in happened. The suspicious figures were described to be tall and fair. One was dressed in a dark maroon t-shirt and Jeans while the other was in a black t-shirt and jeans. Both were estimated to be between eighteen and twenty years old. According to the eyewitnesses, both these men were sighted patronizing the video game centre next to the Learners’ Stationery Store the day before.
Police officers stationed at the City Centre Police Post are still Investigating the incident. We have appealed to residents living in the area for any further information with regard to the break-in.
